Waiting for the End
The readings given in Module 5 speak about how the current situation will lead to a “new normal” wherein things will “feel normal” mainly because we have been so used to the current situation, but at the same time, things will be very different from how we lived before the COVID-19 pandemic occurred. Given the things happening to us right now, normal occurrences such as parties, get-togethers, and even simple things such as giving handshakes or high-fives will all feel so strange. Everyone would have to wear masks and shields all the time and bring around bottles of alcohol. It’s even unlikely that taking classes or public transportation would ever go back to the way they were before the COVID-19 pandemic.
To be quite honest, the situation is sad. Based on the past readings I have done, the government is not doing too much to help alleviate the situation, and it seems to me as if they are even making things worse. The number of cases has been rising every day, even reaching the highest single-day tallies recently. It’s crazy to think how the current situation is even worse than it was back in August and September. Now more than ever, I am scared to leave my house for anything, and I would just like to stay at home to make sure that my loved ones and I are safe from the COVID-19.
And the question that really matters is: how do you keep hope alive?
